The North Lauderdale Community Garden opened in mid-2011 and was immediately popular with residents. It has been six years since the start of the project, and despite being moved to a new location, it is going strong. The Community Garden is located on the corner of Rock Island and Forest Blvd across from our City Hall.
The Community Garden has been supplying the residents of North Lauderdale with a fresh supply of fruits and vegetables for all to enjoy. You don’t need to have gardening experience to apply, as there are expert gardeners taking part who will be happy to assist you in learning the skill, one that you can share with your children, grandchildren, neighbors, and friends. There are plenty of opportunities for young children to come in and learn about gardening as well. The community garden is the perfect place to have interaction with fellow members of the community over a shared interest!!
The Community Garden uses only flower pots and other material that is eco-friendly and biodegradable, and the maintenance is done with the fewest amount of chemicals possible, oftentimes using none. Starting later this year, the garden is expecting to receive a facelift, resulting in a better ground infrastructure and overall better quality of life to our gardeners.
Plots are available to residents for just $20 per year and $30 for non-residents. Residents interested in a plot, click here for an application and liability waiver for the Community Garden.
